In the last round of vehicle inspection tests, many operators were charged £100 for retests that amounted to no more than a quick visual check. Fife Council’s own published fee schedule (April 2025) states the £100 charge only applies if the vehicle is put on a ramp or connected to testing equipment.

Where the vehicle’s retesting did not require a ramp or testing equipment, this fee was applied incorrectly.

Operators are therefore entitled to refunds and we want charges to be applied fairly and transparently.
